Ozon Product Cards: Russian Content That Gets Approved
How to build an Ozon product card: Russian titles, attribute fields, image rules and content score, plus managing a multilingual catalog from one panel.
An Ozon product card is the product page made up of a Russian title, description, category-specific attribute fields, images and a barcode, which goes live only after Ozon's moderation approves it. To sell on Ozon, the card must satisfy Ozon's content rules and speak the language a Russian-speaking buyer actually searches in. For a seller outside Russia, the real work is meeting both conditions across thousands of products, again and again. This article explains how to prepare Russian content, what the card consists of and how to raise the content score. For account setup and order flow, see our Ozon integration guide.
Anatomy of an Ozon product card
Ozon collects product data in structured fields rather than free text. A card has these parts:
- Category: the subcategory the product sits in; it determines which attribute fields open.
- Title: in some categories Ozon generates it from attributes, in others the seller writes it.
- Attributes: brand, type, material, color, size, dimensions, country of origin and more, varying by category; some are mandatory.
- Description: free text that supports search and the buying decision.
- Images and video: the main image has background and size rules.
- Barcode: one per variant; our GS1 and EAN barcode guide covers this.
- Package dimensions and weight: used to calculate logistics fees.
Ozon checks these fields before approval. A missing mandatory attribute or a non-compliant image puts the card on hold. Rules differ by category and Ozon updates them, so open the category template in Seller Center each time you enter a new category.
Writing Russian titles and descriptions
The most common mistake is pushing English or another source language through machine translation. The result may be grammatically correct, yet Russian buyers may search with a different word entirely. A garment you describe one way at home may be searched under another term in Russian. Use the autocomplete suggestions in Ozon's own search box and look at how competing cards phrase things.
For the title:
- Lead with product type, brand and the single most distinguishing feature.
- Follow the template in categories where Ozon has one; if the system builds the title from attributes, filling the attributes correctly is enough.
- Avoid capitals, exclamation marks and promotional words like "best" or "sale"; Ozon may reject them.
For the description:
- State what the product is, its material and its use in the first sentence.
- List dimensions, care and package contents as bullet points.
- Mention country of origin where it helps, and fill the origin attribute as well.
Do not try to write perfect Russian in one pass. Write clear and correct first, then improve using search data. Ozon's own search suggestions show you the words buyers use.
Attributes: where the content score comes from
Ozon uses attributes for search filters and for the card's content score. When a shopper filters by color, size or material in the left menu, any product with that field empty drops out of the results. Fill optional attributes that apply to the product, not only the mandatory ones.
For attribute values, Ozon expects selections from its dictionaries: the color from Ozon's list rather than free text, the size on Ozon's size scale. Once you map your catalog's "Navy" to the Ozon dictionary value, that mapping applies to every product. Variants are built on splits such as color and size, and each variant needs its own barcode and image. See variant management and the color-size matrix for the structure.
Russian buyers are used to their own sizing conventions. Providing a size chart that includes the sizes used in Russia lowers returns. Our international size and unit conversion article covers size-chart images and conversion.
Image and rich content rules
Ozon sets rules for the main image covering background, margins, resolution and how much of the frame the product fills. They vary by category: apparel may require a model or flat lay, electronics a white background. If the main image is rejected, the card cannot go live. Use additional images for other angles, the product in use and details. Ozon gives extra content-score weight to cards with video and rich content, the designed sections that combine images and text.
Text, logos, watermarks and promotional stickers on images are generally rejected. Strip any non-Russian text from images before sending them.
Steps to raise the Ozon content score
Ozon shows a completeness score for each card and promotes higher scores. The order we recommend:
- Choose the narrowest subcategory; a wrong category opens the wrong attribute set.
- Fill mandatory attributes with the correct dictionary values.
- Complete optional attributes wherever they apply; an empty field means dropping out of a filter.
- Write the Russian title for search habits and the description in product-material-use order.
- Prepare the main image to the category rule; add several extra images and a short video if possible.
- Assign a separate barcode and image to every variant.
- Measure real package dimensions and weight; logistics fees are calculated from them.
- Review the live score and Ozon's suggested fixes weekly.

Managing Russian content for thousands of products
Localizing a few dozen products by hand in the Ozon dashboard is feasible; thousands of products in a catalog that changes constantly are not. When your catalog comes from Shopify, WooCommerce, ikas or an XML feed, every product's Russian title, description and attribute values need a home, and they need to be sent to Ozon as a card.
In Bulutegra each product carries per-channel content fields, so Russian title, description and attributes for Ozon are held independently of your home-language content. Content Studio drafts Russian descriptions and size-chart images with AI; you or a Russian-speaking team member correct and approve before anything is published. The quality tab lists products with missing titles, empty categories or no images and offers a one-click fix. Catalog color and size values are mapped to Ozon's dictionary once and applied everywhere. For ruble pricing and exchange-rate tracking, see multi-currency and exchange rate management.
How it works with Bulutegra
Your Ozon account connects to Bulutegra; existing cards are read into the panel and matched to the catalog by SKU and barcode. In shadow mode the system only reads for one to two weeks and writes nothing to Ozon. Once you grant write permission, Russian content, stock and price flow to Ozon from one panel, and each order is written to your ERP with customer, line items, carrier and payment details. Export paperwork and customs details are prepared at order time. Browse Content Studio and the other modules under Solutions or request a walkthrough with your Ozon catalog through the demo form.
Frequently asked questions
Can an Ozon product card be in English?
Ozon's buyers search and read in Russian; an English title will not match searches and lowers buyer trust. Ozon's content rules also expect the card in Russian. Enter title, description and attribute values in Russian and keep your brand name as it is. Check Ozon Seller Center for the current content requirements.
Why was my Ozon product card rejected?
The usual reasons are empty mandatory attributes, values that do not fit the category, a main image that breaks background or size rules, and promotional wording in the title. Ozon shows a reason for each rejected card. Read it, fix the specific field and resubmit.
Does the Ozon content score affect sales?
Yes. Ozon measures how complete a card is with a content score and ranks high-scoring cards higher in search and category pages. Optional attributes, extra images, video and rich content raise the score beyond the mandatory fields. Ozon can change how the score is calculated.
